The Superlatives – Duggystone Radio – Introducing – Lets Grab a Tent & Go Shaggin

Written by on February 23, 2022

Let’s Grab a Tent & Go Shaggin, has to be the line of the interview from the Leeds based Indie band

Who are The Surplatives

The Superlatives are a three-piece indie rock band from Leeds. Hard-hitting catchy riffs with a driving bass sound.
Charlie Noble – lead guitar and vocals
Tom Gausden – bass guitar
Jamie Godley – drums and backing vocals

We had a giggle from the worst gig they went to and also the best, on was in Holland the other in Germany. Which one do you think was a train wreck ?.

From ad-libbing at a gig to where they emerged as a young music group from the tender age of 13 and have been together 17 years.

we sun a few of their tunes on the show and I was really interested to see they had one of their loyal fans on stage jamming on the drums, shows they are not bad guys of rock & roll but value their followers.

You will instantly pick up on the melodies the lyrics and the upbeat vibe, it feels familiar yet different. “influenced by your record collection is a really good way of describing why the band sound like they do.

Asked how they got together “Well I said you’re on drums, your on guitar were starting a band” Love that a lot

The Superlatives wear their influences on their sleeves with music comparative to the progeny of Britpop, 70’s British Punk, indie and alternative. Described by the Sheffield Scenester as ‘Looking like three blokes going down the pub, their casual demeanour gave little hint of the underlying talent they were ready to unleash upon the Harley [venue in Sheffield]. Power chord combinations tore out of the amps and across the room with riff after riff belting, the drums pounding with foot-stomping ferocity and the vocals not drawing attention, but grabbing you by the throat and demanding it.’
We’re a band from Wetherby, formed a long time ago, with four members. As we’ve improved and formed our sound, we’ve also whittled down the members to just three of us. With the typical three piece set up, we’ve played gigs all over Leeds and Sheffield, as well as playing in Germany, the Netherlands and London.
These most recent demos were recorded at Cottage Road Studios in Headingly, the same place where the Crookes recorded their album, and Leeds bands such as Pulled Apart by Horses and the Pigeon Detectives have also recorded.
